GS - Columbia School of General Studies - Giving Day 2016
Alumni and staff from Columbia University's School of General Studies gathered to raise money for scholarships to the program, celebrate their unique education, and fête the the fabulous Dean Awn for his 20 years of service to the students of GS. A video of alumni telling their stories of why they give to GS can be found in the video section of this website. Originally developed as a school for GIs to continue their education after WWII, GS provides a rigorous and nurturing educational environment for non-traditional students. The alumni in attendance ranged in ages from early 30s to late 80s, and come from a variety of fields and backgrounds.
For this events I created floral arrangements, as well as recorded, edited and published a video of GS alumni speaking on why they give to GS. The video will be used for promotional purposes next Giving Day.
Audre Lorde Project - Giving Circle Recruitment
The Audre Lorde Project, based in Brooklyn, NY, focuses on the intersection of healthcare and activism for people of color in the LGBTQIA community and those living with HIV and AIDS. Named after famed black lesbian feminist poet and activist Audre Lorde - who died of cancer in 1992 - the group aims to close the gap in healthcare for queer people of color in New York City and the larger United States. The Audre Lorde project uses creativity, including theatre, poetry, and writing, to bring attention to their cause. Young donors to the program gathered in Manhattan to discuss the importance of the cause, the future of the project, and growing the fundraising base.
I catered and managed logistics for this event.
